Admission Processes

ADMISSION CRITERIA


Individuals seeking attachment programming are required to obtain a referral from an external source, which may include professionals from mental health, addictions, NNADAP, Child and Family Services, Social Services, and more.


  • Approval is required through the application process.
  • Funding must be secured before enrolling in the program.
  • Participants are required to commit to attending all programming.
  • If substance-use is listed on the case plan, the individual must have completed a detox program immediately prior to admission.
  • Participants are required to supervise their children at all times unless engaged in programming.
  • Prior approval may be required for legal issues and medical clearance.
  • Medications must be reviewed by the Coordinator and medical partners before admission.
  • OTTER welcomes all ages conditional on safety/behavioural concerns.


OTTER Home Inc. possesses the capacity to address the majority of needs in the target group mentioned above. Children and youth with exceptionally challenging behavior, who pose an exceptional safety risk to themselves and others, will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.


Following Up On Referrals:

Our Coordinator will conduct an assessment via phone call, TEAMS/Zoom involving the potential participant and their referral source. This process will take at least 30 minutes and should take place in a private setting.
